Process

• Prepare a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy petition from the Client Intake Forms and supporting documents.   The petition will include all required schedules and local forms for the bankruptcy district.

• When completed, the petition is double checked by the VBA. The VBA then sends the attorney a draft of the   petition along with a cover sheet detailing any potential problems and/or questions for the attorney to review.

• The attorney will then send the VBA any corrections or changes he/she deems necessary. The changes are made    and sent back to the attorney for final review.

•  Once the petition is completed to the satisfaction of the attorney it is electronically transmitted to his/her office so it     can be filed with the Bankruptcy Court.

• This checking process, by both the VBA and attorney, markedly improves the quality of the end product. This   results in a smooth operation for the attorney and virtually no deficiency notices after the petition is filed.

•  All petitions will contain the Attorney’s name, Law Firm and State Bar Number. VBA's name does not appear on the    petition. All client and attorney information is held in strict confidence.
